Tempo ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Tempo mobile application ("App").

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address (provided directly or via Apple/Google Sign-In)
Display name (if provided)
Profile photo URL (if using Google Sign-In)
Authentication method (Apple, Google, or email)

Onboarding Preferences

During onboarding, we collect your language learning preferences, including native language, proficiency level, learning goals, and daily listening goals. This information is used to personalize your experience.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the App, including:

Podcasts played and listening progress
Saved podcasts and preferences
Playback settings (speed, sleep timer)

Subscription Information

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not have access to your payment details (credit card number, billing address, etc.).

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and maintain the App
Authenticate your account
Manage your subscription
Save your preferences and listening progress
Improve the App and develop new features
Communicate with you about your account or the service

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google) — Authentication, cloud database (Firestore), and file storage. Firebase Privacy

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Firebase servers (Google Cloud infrastructure). We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (available in the App under Account Settings)
Portability: Request your data in a portable format
Objection: Object to processing of your personal data

7. Children's Privacy

Tempo is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from your country. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
